The wines of Alicante achieve an “exceptional” vintage in 2016

The Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin has qualified the 2016 vintage as “Excellent” when meeting conditions of maximum quality in all wines from this vintage.

According to the Denomination of Origin, “since 2008 a vintage was not qualified with this excellence, which marks a milestone in this decade”.

Since the month of August, when the harvest began in some vineyards in the province, it has already begun to appreciate “a distinguished quality of white wines”. However, the Council emphasizes that in other varieties, the maturation in the months of September, October and November “was slow, healthy and homogeneous, which has allowed a very high level of concentration of quality components that have marked the difference”.

“The qualification will be extended to the wines of Crianza, Reserva or even, Fondillones (registered also this year with specific harvests) that come from this vintage and that will later go to market with this quality mark”, the Regulatory Council emphasizes.
