Description
Giró Crianza 12 months red wine
Vineyard and Winemaking
Oscar Mestre Giró Crianza 12 months is a small production artisanal red wine made 100% with the Giró grape variety, native to the area, and with principles of minimal intervention in the winemaking process and viticulture. The vines are between 30 and 40 years old, cultivated in goblet and strictly unirrigated. In addition, the location of the vineyards just a few kilometers from the sea imbues the wine with a marked salinity that is totally recognizable in the glass.
It is a red wine made from 100% Giró grapes, as we said, and is fermented in small stainless steel tanks with a careful destemming to obtain the whole grain and infusion with great care to avoid extracting hardness.
Aged in new French oak for 12 months and another 6 months in bottle before release. A fine, elegant wine that speaks volumes about the terroir where it is created.
A signature wine made by the young winemaker Óscar Mestre, 4th generation of winemakers and viticulturists at Bodegas Riko.

Tasting and Pairing
Sight: Bright cherry red color, medium-low layer.
Nose: Great aromatic potential where we would emphasize the delicacy of the wine. We will find expression of scrubland, flowers, lots of fresh red fruit.
Mouth: Subtle and balanced wine. Round and friendly tannin with good acidity. It is a fruity red wine, very sweet and elegant. With a marked personality with wild herbaceous touches that make it a unique and special wine. The barrel accompanies the wine, just giving it length and elegant depth.
Pairing: They are subtle and elegant wines that require dishes that do not compete in level of relevance. This grape gives wines with which to merge subtle aromas, where spices do not stand out. It goes well with dishes based on mushrooms, creamy sauces, soft soft cheeses, duck, partridge, white fish such as turbot or suckling lamb.
Service temperature: Between 15-16 ºC.
La Bodega
BODEGAS RIKO XALÓ is a winery of family tradition whose origins date back to 1947. Currently they are already the 4th generation of winemakers and winemakers of the family with the young winemaker Óscar Mestre at the head.
The winery is located in an old building of typical construction of the zone of the XVII century with buttresses and few hollows or windows, so that the light did not enter in excess as prevention in the conservation of the wine. This building has had many functions throughout its existence: wine cellar, sale of wines, wines and spirits, raisins warehouse or packing of muscatel grapes destined to table grapes.
The winery is located in Xaló, in the Marina Alta region, province of Alicante. The altitude of the winery and its vineyards are about 200 meters above sea level and a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea with an average annual temperature of 18º and little rainfall.
