For yet another year, the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium (ADDA) held one of the most unique evenings for the Vinos Alicante DOP. A gala with more than 600 attendees, including industry professionals and public institutions and 32 Alicante wineries that presented their innovations to the professional sector. An evening full of recognitions where they put in value the stores and restaurants that bet on their wines and make them known with their awards.
With a dance show by the students of the Conservatory José Espader began the delivery of the Vinos Alicante DOP Awards. The dance was intended to eviscerate the cliché that rosé wines seem light and soft, like the appearance of classical ballet dancers, to finish dancing to an energetic song of the “Black Keys”. This range of wines was the protagonist of this edition where the new vintage 2023, new wineries and references were presented, including the 3 new mentions “Alicante Singular” for those wines with more elements of the Alicante PDO.
The gala was presented by writer and sommelier Meritxell Falgueras in an event that paid tribute to the men and women of the grape harvest who have dedicated their entire lives to the field and in which special focus was placed on the already palpable consequences of climate change in the sector.
Vinos Alicante PDO Awards: ‘Best Trade 2023’ Award to Alicante Delicatessen
As we said, this event serves to know the work of the entire sector today and to recognize the work of those stores and restaurants that best promote them.
In the case of the ‘Best Trade 2023’ award we were distinguished us, the distributor and online store Madrid ‘Alicante Delicatessen’, which in our 10th anniversary we continue to open place in the capital only with wines of the PDO and some other products such as nougat, oils or panettones in a gourmet assortment. The award was collected by our manager José Arnau, who pointed out that “Madrid is an open place where there is a good valuation of the area”, and in the restaurant section, the Elx restaurant Mestizaje was awarded. And in the case of the Fondillón award, it was the provincial commissioner of the National Police, who accepted the award in honor of the 200th anniversary of this entity.
Finally, Jose Juan Reus, president of the Control Board, thanked all the attendees and emphasized the importance of the support of professionals for the wine sector for its survival.
