If I had to give a meaning to the ‘M’ since I met its creator Cristina Rodriguez and her incredible ice wine, I would say it is Marvellous.

Back in 2016, Alicante Delicatessen attended one more year to the Alicante gastronomic fair looking for new artisan and quality products to incorporate to our select catalog of Alicante products. It was there where we met for the first time giving rise to the best possible cocktail. Two newly created companies, two people with great enthusiasm for their project and two projects that would fit together perfectly.

Cristina Rodríguez told me about her project, her dream and how it had become a reality, personified in a wine that blended tradition and innovation. The rest is history.

Since then, more than 5 years have passed and we continue working together making the sweet icewine M de Alejandría bigger and bigger in Madrid where Alicante Delicatessen is located. Nowadays, M de Alejandría wine can be found in taverns and specialized stores in the capital, some of them of enormous prestige.

M de Alejandría: Wine harvest 2019

Last year Cristina invited me to live the experience of attending the grape harvest festival and learn firsthand what M de Alejandría wine is, and how all that love for the land translates into the final result of the wine.

I moved from Madrid to Teulada, a small town in the north of the province of Alicante, located in the Marina Alta at about 200 meters above sea level, and a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea. A region with lots of hours of sunshine and Mediterranean influence that has a great wine tradition, especially white wines, sweets and mistelas, as well as table grapes, where the queen is the native variety Moscatel de Alejandría. A grape that no one in the world knows how to treat it like our region, which by geographical location, terroir and elaboration is unique.

Cristina’s Finca ‘La Alberca’ is surrounded by the vineyards of this autochthonous variety, the essence of M de Alejandría wine. It is a pleasure to start the day and taste that first cup of coffee walking through the vineyards, talking to them and watching them grow day by day. In today’s fast-paced world, this is a luxury. That serenity and closeness of the fruit with its creator will undoubtedly be read to perfection in every glass of M de Alejandría wine.

During the day we were able to walk through the vineyards, chat, harvest and enjoy a typical lunch in the area. The truth is that tasting the wine where it is born is another world, it tastes better. The 2019 harvest festival was a day I will never forget. Thank you very much Cristina for inviting me and getting to know the project.

If you want to learn more about M de Alejandría and purchase one of these exclusive numbered bottles, we will send it to your home or wherever you want.

Cheers!
